  14. Announcing PowerGuardian for NEXTSTEP for Intel Processors

  16. COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 12, 1993 - BenaTong announced today, that PowerGuardian, a
  17. UPS monitoring/control application, will ship for systems running NEXTSTEP for
  18. Intel Processors (NS/FIP) shortly after NS/FIP ships this May.

  20. BenaTong president, Chuck Bennett, says "We are more committed than ever to
  21. the NEXTSTEP environment now that the cross platform barriers have been
  22. overcome.  The quality and completeness of the operating systems leaves little
  23. doubt that NEXTSTEP is the user and developer environment of the future;

  26. PowerGuardian, BenaTong's latest entry into the NeXT market, monitors
  27. uninterruptible power supplies from American Power Conversion (APC) and, in
  28. the event of an extended power failure, performs an orderly shutdown of the
  29. protected system.

  31. The PowerGuardian can be configured  to perform various scripts at user
  32. specified time since failure or remaining battery capacity. UPS health testing
  33. can be automated and the test results logged for later analysis.  To supply a
  34. full diagnostic path, power event logging can be enabled as can power quality
  35. monitoring.

  37. PowerGuardian is also network compatible and each user may select which UPS he
  38. wishes to monitor.
